Local station

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a local station is called:

  • Broadcasters that are only supposed to cover a small area with their programs, usually referred to as local radio ;
  • Broadcasting transmitters that always arrive at a certain location with a high field strength, since in the case of VHF transmitters the propagation takes place without significant shadowing or in the case of long and medium wave transmitters it is mainly caused by the bump in the ground. In the latter case, a local transmitter can also be recognized by the fact that it shows little or no near fading . Local transmitters are characterized by the fact that they can always be received even with radio sets of poor technical quality. Often the local transmitter or transmitters are the transmitter stations which are the closest to a specific location.
