Easter fasting

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Easter fast is held in the Catholic Church on Good Friday and Holy Saturday , i.e. on two days of the Triduum Sacrum . The Holy Thursday , however, has more festive character. The tradition of Easter fasting goes back to two approaches:

  1. the funeral fast, followed by the celebration of the resurrection of Christ, followed by a phase of joy with the end of the fast
  2. fasting of the community in solidarity to accompany the preparation of catechumens for baptism
