Ostrvo ( Serbian for island ) is a former island in the Danube in Serbia .
It was east of Belgrade near Kostolac and was the largest island in the country with a length of 20 km and a width of 3 km and an area of around 60 km² . The island was populated, in the western part there was a village. Today the Danube only flows around the area in the north. The former southern arm of the river only partially exists in this area in the form of smaller oxbow lakes .
