Otilio Montaño Sánchez (born December 13, 1887 in Villa de Ayala , Morelos , † May 18, 1917 in Buenavista de Cuéllar , Guerrero ) was a general of the Mexican Revolution .

Maderismo

Otilio Montaño was a son of Esteban Montaño and Guadalupe Sanchez. He went to school in Cuautla , Morelos , was a teacher in the schools in Tepalcingo and Jonacatepec and school principal in Villa de Ayala (all in the state of Morelos). He later moved to Yautepec , where he met Emiliano Zapata's cousin Amador Salazar. In 1910 Montaño was a follower of Madero , and in 1911 he joined the Emiliano Zapata movement.

Zapatismo

After the dispute between Zapata and Madero, he remained on the side of Zapata, at whose behest he drafted the Ayala Plan , which was proclaimed in November 1911. In December 1914, he gave the welcoming address at the first meeting between Francisco Villa and Zapata in Xochimilco .

death

From 1917 onwards, under pressure from Manuel Palafox and Antonio Díaz Soto, Montaño and other Zapatistas had to withdraw from Zapata. After settling for recognition Venustiano Carranza had said, he was accused Zapata of conspiracy and sentenced on May 18, 1917 executed .
