The Oxford Research Group (ORG) is a corporation founded in Oxford in 1982 independent non-governmental organization based in London that promotes a sustainable safety concept in the UK and the rest of the world. In 2003 the founding director Scilla Elworthy received the Niwano Peace Prize for the work of the ORG. In April 2005, the daily newspaper The Independent named the ORG as one of the top 20 think tanks in Great Britain .

ORG operates three programs:

  • Human Security in the Middle East
  • Sustainable Security
  • Recording the Casualties of Armed Conflict (death toll from armed conflict)

The organization sees itself as a "bridge builder" and tries to build trust between policy makers, academics, the military and civil society. With the support of internationally recognized advisors and with the involvement of opinion leaders and governments, a combination of innovative publications, expert panels and consultations is used to develop and promote sustainable global security strategies. The global priority is to move away from the military towards a security concept based on justice, human rights, conflict prevention and a fair distribution of resources.
