The Pönfall is an expression from medieval and early modern legal history . It was used to denote the punishment of serious misconduct that subjects had committed against their rightful authorities . They were the Pön (from the Latin. "Poena" = punishment ) ver case s. The Upper Lusatian Pönfall of the Upper Lusatian Six Cities Association, which these cities suffered in connection with the events of the Schmalkaldic War in 1547, is known to this day.
