The PDF Association promotes open, standardized, electronic file formats for documents based on PDF . The association offers opportunities for further training, development and the exchange of experience for various interest groups worldwide. Users, developers and manufacturers in the areas of enterprise content management (ECM) and document management (DMS), as well as in organizations and authorities, receive support in the planning and implementation of PDF technologies.

The PDF Association works with the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) on standardization. Through a Category A liaison with ISO TC 171 and ISO TC 130, the association is actively involved in the development of all ISO standards for PDF.

history

In 2006 the association was initially established as a PDF / A Competence Center on the initiative of the Association for Digital Document Standards e. V. (ADDS) founded. Initially, the focus was on the PDF / A standard for long-term archiving and its implementation in libraries, authorities and in industry. In September 2011 the association opened to all PDF standard formats.

The PDF Association maintains international country groups in countries and regions such as Benelux , Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, North America, Switzerland and Spain.

Goal setting

The PDF Association aims to provide software vendors with information and resources on the various international PDF standards to help them get the most out of their investment in PDF technology. These include:

  • Promotion of PDF applications for digital documents based on open standards as well as the
  • Promotion through knowledge transfer, know-how and the exchange of experiences for all interest groups worldwide.
