Pihkal: A Chemical Love Story

PiHKAL: A Chemical Love Story is a book by Alexander and Ann Shulgin. The title is an acronym for Phenethylamines I Have Known And Loved ( English for Phenylethylamine , which I met and loved ).

The book consists of two parts. The first part deals with biographical aspects of both authors. Meetings of a circle of friends are described, at which new psychoactive substances were tested in self-experiments under scientific conditions. In the second part, 179 psychoactive phenylethylamines are systematically described with regard to their synthesis and the experience reports (of the group members) at different dosage levels.
