Lists on the subject

The PP-Mi-SR ( P roti P ěchotní Mi na SR apnelová) is an in the former Czechoslovakia developed bounding mine with fragmentation effect, from the kind of anti-personnel mines . It can also be used as a pure fragment mine.

description

The PP-Mi-Šr has a cylindrical steel body with a rounded top and three openings. Two openings are used to accommodate the igniter, the third, larger opening as a filling opening. When used as a spring mine, the center hole is ignited, when used as a splinter mine, the side hole is ignited. Different types of detonators (RO-1, RO-8, RO-10) are alternatively or simultaneously possible after attaching an ignition distributor.

Functioning as a jumping mine

A preloaded firing pin is released in the detonator by pressing from above or by pulling on the trigger wire, which then strikes a primer cap. This primer initiates a deceleration propellant, which in turn initiates the ejection charge. The gas pressure created by the ignited ejection charge drives the mine body out of the mine pot, but the mine body remains connected to the mine pot by a pull rope. Once the release height has been reached, the pull rope tightens, whereby another firing pin, held by two safety balls, is pulled down and tensioned. If the firing pin is cocked, the two safety balls can fall into prepared openings and thus release the pin, which then initiates the detonator of the mine body and thus ignites the active charge.

Functioning as a fragment mine

By igniting the detonator opening on the side, the detonator and thus the active charge are initiated immediately after the release. The mine remains on the ground.
