PSIAC

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

PSIAC is an Internet-supported database application for querying drug interactions , which is intended to represent the state of the art on the compatibility of psychotropic drugs with one another and with other drugs. In one study, 82 percent of patients who took 7 or more drugs developed adverse drug reactions . Drug interactions deserve special attention because they are the cause of adverse drug reactions in 20 to 30 percent of cases. PSIAC was initially marketed as an independent application program for Windows in the science publisher Springer Science + Business Media . The content was created and maintained by an interdisciplinary team of authors led by Christoph Hiemke, Matthias Dobmeier, Gabriel Eckermann and Ekkehard Haen. In 2006 a variant was marketed as an internet-based database application, also at Springer. On January 1, 2018, the rights to PSIAC were completely taken over by Springer Science + Business Media.
