Paid inclusion

Paid inclusion is the paid inclusion of a website in the database of a search engine or a web catalog . Paid inclusion can be offered as the only option for inclusion or as an alternative to free inclusion. The paid form can, for example, offer the advantage of faster admission or a higher position in the search results. In contrast to the sponsor links , paid inclusions are not marked as such, so that the user cannot see here that these are purchased entries.

Paid inclusion was a common practice in many search engines (including Microsoft, Yahoo, AltaVista) apart from Google, especially in the years 2000–2005. The latter rely on their own Adsense / Adwords advertising system. In 2004 most of the paid inclusion programs were abolished.
