Palacio Legislativo
Superscript text The Palacio Legislativo is a building in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo .
The neoclassical building, which is clad in walls made of 24 different types of marble , is located at the end of the Avenida Libertador, which runs diagonally from Plaza Entrevero to the Palacio Legislativo, and is the seat of the Uruguayan legislature . It houses the Asamblea General de Uruguay , the Parliament of Uruguay , which is divided into the two chambers of Cámara de Representantes and Cámara de Senadores . The Palacio Legislativo, built between 1908 and 1925, the cornerstone of which was laid on July 1, 1905, was inaugurated on August 25, 1925. This day was chosen as a homage to the 100th anniversary of Uruguay's declaration of independence on August 25, 1825. The architect of the Palacios was Vittorio Meano , the construction was carried out by the company G. y M. Debernardis . The interior design was done by Gaetano Moretti . In 1975 the building was declared a national cultural monument ( Monumento Histórico Nacional ).
