The Pampa Bulldog is an Argentine license replica of the world-famous Lanz Bulldog tractor .

The Pampa was initially made by the IAME ( I ndustrias A eronáuticas y M ecánicas del E stado), a state-owned aircraft factory. In 1955 the company was renamed DINFIA ( Di rección N acional de F abricaciones e I nvestigaciones A eronáuticas).

Due to the poor supply of agricultural equipment and poor trade relations with the United States , tractors in particular were in short supply. That is why Argentina's president, Juan Perón , decided to build his own tractor in Argentina within three months. Perón hired some experts to ask farmers in Argentina which tractor was the most reliable and easiest. The choice fell on the Lanz Bulldog . However, much of the three-month deadline had expired after the survey ended. So it was decided to import two Lanz Bulldogs. One of the two was completely dismantled and given to companies for reproduction. In the case of the other, you simply exchanged the riser pipe of the Bulldog for your own with the lettering "IAME PAMPA - Industria Argentina" and painted the tractor from the typical Lanz blue to a light orange tone. The first Pampa Bulldog was born and Perón met his deadline as promised.

The first Pampa (conversion of the Lanz Bulldog) was built in 1952. Series production began in mid-1954. In 1956, production was finally stopped. Because of the low demand after 1955, the Pampa was offered on the market until about 1963, when all stocks were sold out. When Perón's fall in 1955, the name was changed from IAME to DINFIA, there were small changes to the tug:

  • The IAME Pampa - T01, built until mid-1955, corresponded exactly to the post-war Lanz Bulldog D1506 with an output of 55 hp from a 10.5 liter displacement with the well-known single-cylinder two-stroke glow-head engine and roof-mounted fenders.
  • The DINFIA Pampa - T01, built from mid-1955, had a slightly different standing plate and shell fenders. The power was given as 60 hp, which results from an increase in speed from 750 to 830 rpm. There were also small changes to the brake system and the crankshaft seal.

When it was renamed, the labels on the tractor were also changed from IAME to DINFIA. The changeover took place at tractor number 2500, with IAME parts being partially combined with DINFIA parts in the transition area. For this reason there are also DINFIA tractors with roof fenders and IAME types with shell fenders.

The exact number of tugs built is not known. According to the current state of knowledge, the number of tractors produced is between 3700 and 3800 pieces.
