Pancrates from Alexandria

Pankrates of Alexandria was a 2nd century poet. He wrote a courtly epyllion on the Roman emperor Hadrian and his favorite Antinous on the lion hunt.

Four hexameters of the Antinous flower , the rose lotus , at Athenaios have been preserved . The style of the poem was very pathetic and learned. The verses have been handed down on two fragmentary papyri . The equation with Hadrian's magician, Pachates , is uncertain.
