Panorama is a universal driver for graphics cards for the OS / 2 and eComStation operating systems .

In order to still achieve a satisfactory integration of modern graphics cards without having to write a new driver for each card, a solution was sought in order to still achieve a satisfactory integration of the operating systems mentioned above . This was achieved by programming a bridge between standardized BIOS functions of the graphics card and the OS / 2 video subsystem. The driver has been implemented as a DLL file. The VESA BIOS 2.0 , whose call functions are supported by practically all graphics cards, serves as the basis for the panorama driver .

Supported Resolutions

  • 0640 × 480
  • 0800 × 600
  • 1024 × 768
  • 1280 × 1024
  • 1600 × 1200

advantages

The advantage of the panorama driver is that it works with practically all graphics cards. This means that there is a software basis that basically works on any hardware. At the same time, this results in independence from the driver development of the graphics card manufacturer. These often do not provide drivers for OS / 2 and eComStation .

disadvantage

The panorama driver works for the standard screen resolutions and color depths. More specific functions such as B. 3D acceleration cannot be used with the panorama driver.

Current version
