Main entrance to the Panteón Civil de Dolores.
The Panteón Civil de Dolores is a large cemetery in Mexico City . It is located in the Bosque de Chapultepec between sectors 2 and 3 southwest of the center. The first time someone was buried in the cemetery was in 1874. From 1882 it was open to the public.
The Rotonda de las Personas Ilustres , which was built in 1872 on the initiative of the then President Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada , is also located on the site .
