Papyrus (comic series)

Papyrus is a Belgian comic series that has been published since 1974, the author and illustrator of which is the Belgian Lucien de Gieter . It is best known in the Franco-Belgian region, where 33 volumes have so far been published in the original French. According to the author, he will end his work on this comic series after the completion of the 33rd volume, which was published in April 2015. Only the first 3 volumes were published in German, while 6 volumes are now also available in English. Since 1998 there has also been a 52-episode cartoon series of the same name, which is loosely based on this comic series and was also broadcast in Germany. In 2020, Pidax Film released the animated series on two DVD boxes.

action

The action takes place in ancient Egypt at the time of the pharaohs . Papyrus, an Egyptian boy, receives a magical sword from the gods of Egypt and the task of protecting the princess Theti-Cheri, daughter of the Pharaoh and heiress of the throne. In doing so, the two of them repeatedly get into adventurous and dangerous situations in which the gods' help is often necessary. Other characters and good friends of Papyrus and Theti-Cheri who appear regularly in the comics alongside the two are the one-legged boy Imhotep and the short Puin with his donkey Khamelot. The fight against the god Seth and his followers who want to rule Egypt, which is the focus of the cartoon series , does not appear in the comic series.
