The Parador GmbH is a German manufacturer of products for floor and wall design based in Coesfeld (Nordrhein-Westfalen). The company, founded in 1977, produces laminate , parquet and elastic floor coverings as well as decorative panels for walls and ceilings. It currently employs 550 people. Production sites are Coesfeld and Güssing in Austria .

history

The company was founded in Coesfeld in 1977 and initially produced a panel with a round edge. In 1983, the EBS furniture program was launched, with which furniture is manufactured and assembled using a modular principle.

Parador has been producing laminate floors since 1995 and in the following years specialized in the production of floor coverings. In 2000 Parador presented the first parquet floor with an automatic click system. In 2001 Parador merged with Gebrüder Meyer Parkettindustrie GmbH in Güssing and produces prefabricated parquet at this location. In 2003, the range was expanded to include solid wood floorboards and a seamless design panel for walls and ceilings, the so-called ClickBoard. From 2004 solid wood planks with click connections were produced for the first time. The Classic flooring collection with the ProAir system was launched in 2007. In the same year, Parador took over all shares in Gebrüder Meyer Parkettindustrie GmbH . Since 2011 Parador has regularly presented design editions for parquet and laminate, which are created in collaboration with well-known designers and architects. the company has already received several awards for this, including a. with the red dot award for product design, the AIT Award and the German Design Award.

With effect from October 1, 2016, Nord Holding Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft acquired Parador and its subsidiaries from the previous owner, the Hüls group of companies. Since July 2018, HIL, a subsidiary of the Indian CK Birla Group, has been the new main owner of Parador. HIL Limited is the leading manufacturer of building materials and components in India.

Production and sales

Parador sells its products worldwide through specialist flooring dealers and the so-called DYI. Outside Europe, the contract business is also becoming increasingly important. Parador has around 4,000 trading partners in 80 countries. The export quota is around 50%. The company positions itself as a consumer brand.

Parador supports campaigns related to climate change and promoting sustainable forestry. Parador has been a partner of the "Plant-for-the-Planet" foundation since 2012.
