Paracolpium

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The paracolpium (from ancient Greek κόλπος kólpos, sheath ') describes the connective tissue in which the vagina is embedded in the pelvic cavity. It is a compression of the inner pelvic fascia , which stretches the vagina between the urinary bladder and rectum . If the paracolpium is weak, a vaginal prolapse can occur.
