Parasternally lymph nodes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Human thoracic lymph nodes, the parasternally lymph nodes are labeled with the number 9.

The parasternally lymph nodes ( Nodi lymphoidei [Nll.] Parasternales ) are a group of lymph nodes that lie on both sides of the breastbone ( sternum ) along the internal thoracic artery under the pleura . They obtain the lymph from the female breast , the anterior chest wall, the anterior mediastinum , the wall sheet of the pleura, the diaphragm , the diaphragmatic side of the liver and the anterior abdominal wall above the navel. The drainage occurs via the subclavian trunk .

In animal anatomy, they are referred to as sternum lymph nodes ( Lymphonodi [Lnn.] Sternales ), a front group ( Lnn. Sternales craniales ) and, in some mammals (e.g. ruminants ), a rear group ( Lnn. Sternales caudales ) are distinguished. The sternum lymph nodes are combined to form the abdominal thoracic lymph center ( Lymphocentrum thoracicum ventrale ).
