Paracentric key profile

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A paracentric key profile is a key profile for lock cylinders in which both profile lines (right and left profile line) touch or overlap the profile center axis. Since the contour (shape) of the key channel in the lock cylinder corresponds to that of the key profile, a paracentric shape of the key profile and the key channel makes the unauthorized opening of lock cylinders with locking tools much more difficult or impossible; the paracentric keyway hinders or prevents the insertion and work with locking tools in the keyway.
