Ascher Ländchen memorial stone

In the northwest part there is an obelisk with the title 1989 - The Year of the People . According to an information board in the park, it is intended to remind of the “political changes in many countries” this year. There is a block of granite to the south of it . It bears the title Separation and Reunification and has been partially severed in the lower area. In the upper area it is intact and is supposed to symbolize a reunion. To the northeast is a piece of the Berlin Wall with a picture of Conrad Schumann's jump into freedom on it . The work of the Berlin artist Jakob Wanger was a gift to the city. It was created in 2013 on the occasion of the Grenzland-Filmtage as an “honor for cross-border film art during the Cold War”. The ensemble was supplemented by another memorial stone for the Ascher Ländchen . The stone commemorates the expulsion of the Sudeten Germans from the villages in the neighboring country.
