Parka (deity)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Parka was a Hittite vegetation deity. She is already mentioned in the documents of Kültepe and was next to Nipas and Anna the most important deity of the indigenous Anatolian population. Their party was also a date for payments.

During the time of the Hethic Empire Parka had a temple in the capital Ḫattuša , where the Hittite great king sacrificed during the AN.TAḪ.ŠUM festival and at the KI.LAM festival . Parka was also worshiped in the temple of the grain goddess Ḫalki .
