Parks and Wildlife Services is an authority in the Australian state of Western Australia , which is responsible for nature reserves.
Until 2017 it operated independently under the name Department of Parks and Wildlife , but this merged with the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority , Zoological Parks Authority and Rottnest Island Authority to form the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions , and now operates under this supervision.
It is subordinate to 315,904 square kilometers of land, slightly larger than Poland , in Western Australia , which corresponds to 9.5% of the area of Western Australia. It had 15,797 registered volunteers in 2017, spread across 323 projects.
Divisions
Parks and Wildlife is divided into three divisions , each working on their own topic areas.
Parks and Visitor Services
The Parks and Visitors Division is responsible for tourism in the agency's areas.
Regional and Fire Management Services
The Regional and Fire Management Services Division implements the DBCA's obligations in the individual nature reserves. She works with the communities, organizations and volunteers. She also organizes volunteer brush fire brigades.
Conservation and Ecosystem Management
The Conservation and Ecosystem Management Division is responsible for the health of ecosystems, as well as forest management and rivers.
