The Parliament Building of Georgia is the headquarters of the Georgian Parliament in Tbilisi . The building is located on Rustawelis Gamsiri . The building was erected as the seat of government of the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic . The upper part of the building was built between 1933 and 1938 based on designs by the architects Wiktor Kokorin and Giorgi Leschawa . The lower part along the Rustawelis Gamsiri was designed by the same architects together with Wladimer Nasaridze and built from 1946 to 1953. The building ensemble is an important example of a regional interpretation of socialist classicism .

Both parts of the building are made of concrete and clad with tuff and granite . The facade of the lower part of the building has a geometric shape with 15 arches. Above the five central arches is a flat triangular gable in which the symbol of the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic was originally placed in the middle. This was removed after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

In 2012, at the behest of the government, the parliament was moved to the parliament building in Kutaisi . After the end of this government, it was decided to move the parliament back to Tbilisi, where it has been meeting again since 2019. Construction in Kutaisi is now slated for the Ministry of the Interior .
