The parliamentary elections in Bhutan in 2018 for the election of the National Assembly ( Thsogdu ) in Bhutan took place on September 15 and October 18, 2018.

Surprisingly, Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) became the strongest party in the primary election on September 15 and relegated the previous ruling party to third place, which means that it missed its entry into parliament for the first time.

The first ballot took place on September 15, 2018. Almost 439,000 eligible voters were called to vote. In addition to the two parties previously represented in the National Assembly, the People's Democratic Party ( Peoples Democratic Party , PDP) and the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT, German: Bhutanese Party for Peace and Prosperity ), two other parties stood for election: the Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) and the Bhutan Kuen-Nyam Party (BKP).

The second round of elections took place on October 18, 2018.

Election result

In the first ballot, the DNT prevailed with 31.85% and the DPT with 30.92%. The until then strongest PDP was eliminated as third party with 27.44% and lost all its seats in the National Assembly.
