The Partition Museum in Amritsar opened in August 2017 and focuses on the division of the Indian subcontinent in 1947 and the resettlement and displacement of up to 20 million people.

The museum tells the story of the British colonial era, the independence movement of India and the first demands for the division into independent states, as well as the resulting division of India, which ended with the resettlement and displacement of up to 20 million people and hundreds of thousands of dead. The rescued belongings and memories of the refugees and displaced persons were collected and the stories of over 100 people were made accessible.
