Party tent

A party tent is the smaller and more private form of the marquee . It can protect an outdoor celebration from rain, wind, and solar radiation.

The party tents or folding pavilions are also used because of their low weight and small pack size at markets, events, trade fairs and exhibitions, but also as a cooking tent / smoking tent / community tent for groups and families when camping. The pavilion / party tents can be supplemented with extensive accessories or combined to form larger units.

Construction methods

The party tent usually consists of a sturdy steel or aluminum frame that can be dismantled, which in most cases is powder-coated or galvanized. The roof is made of plastic fabric tarpaulins made of PE, PVC or polyester tarpaulin. Party tents are used with or without side walls (mostly made of plastic fabric). In some cases, side walls are only installed on one, two or three sides, on the one hand to protect against wind ( windshield ) or driving rain and on the other hand to be openly accessible. Party tents with a square floor plan, especially without side walls, are sometimes also called party pavilions . Typologically, they are more like canopies .

Party tents are often secured with tent cord and pegs . A party tent can be set up and taken down quickly by a few people and takes up little space when packed.

Folding pavilions have proven themselves for private parties. They usually have areas of 3 × 3 m, 3 × 4.5 m or 3 × 6 m. Thanks to the folding mechanism, they are easy to assemble and dismantle even for laypeople and are easy to transport. Party tents are also available with a much higher floor space.

Differences from marquee tents

Pack size of pavilion tents left: 1 m - right 1.90 m

The difference between a marquee and a party tent is the size. Party tents usually have a self-supporting width of three to ten meters. The length of the tent is variable. Party tents are used for a maximum of 250 guests. In addition, the profile thicknesses of the tent frames differ from the festival and party tent.

The advantage of a party tent is that everything can be dismantled into manageable individual parts. A marquee, on the other hand, consists of much larger and heavier parts. Today's marquee tents no longer need cords and pegs because the sub-floor and floor panels are very heavy and the tent construction is self-supporting.

There are big differences in the qualities. Party tents are not suitable for permanent use, as the better qualities also weather due to long idle times. As a rule, they are not storm-proof or winter-proof. The packing dimensions also vary greatly. Usually these are around 1.90 m long and consist of several packages. This can make transportation a problem. There are suitable transport and storage bag sets for this. There are also pavilions with a pack size of only 1 m that fit across the trunk.
