Paschberg Bridge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Paschbergbrücke on the Brenner Autobahn is a slope bridge along the Paschberg south of Innsbruck . Originally erected as a mushroom pillar construction with suspended plates ( Gerber girders), it was renovated from 1998 to 2000 and supported with continuous steel girders.

The Brenner autobahn was originally intended to run through the Paschberg in a tunnel. Slight resistance from the population, the lower construction costs and the impressive view of Innsbruck from this route led to the favor of the bridge. In the meantime, however, a large part of its length is enclosed with noise barriers , as the bridge exposes the southern parts of Innsbruck to strong emissions due to its prominent position .
