Passenger Service Units (PSU) in an aircraft cabin (of an Airbus A380 )

PSU is the abbreviation for P assenger S ervice U nit, which is commonly used in aviation, or “Passenger Service Unit” . Some of them are also used in a modified, adapted form in trains, buses and passenger ships.

Components

In wide-body aircraft, this is installed in the pressurized cabin above each row of passenger seats. It includes reading lamps, oxygen masks that fall out of an opening if there is a pressure drop, as well as warning signs that light up accordingly, such as the seat belt sign, the no smoking sign and, in some aircraft, a sign back to seat . In addition, there is often a loudspeaker (audio system) for the announcements of the staff.
