Godfather Chronicle

The Godfather chronicle is a chronicle of the East African city Pate . It was written in Swahili and has been preserved in various versions, some of which differ considerably. The chronicle probably goes back to an oral version and was written down at the beginning of the 19th century. Muhammad bin Fumo 'Umar Nabahani, who belonged to one of the ruling families of Pate, is given as the author. The chronicle goes back to the 12th and 13th centuries.
