Patent index
The patent index is the number of patent applications per 1 million inhabitants (deCharms & Moeller, 1962). In the industrialized countries it is a measure of the degree of innovation in the population. Furthermore, citation databases in the patent system are referred to as patent indexes . These are suitable for patent research .
