Suisse Public
The Suisse Public , the Swiss Trade Fair for public enterprises and large enterprises, which every two years in June in Bern takes place and is current developments in the municipal sector and the public sector. The organizer of Suisse Public is BERNEXPO AG .
Creation and concept
In 1972, the then President of the Swiss Association of Municipalities initiated Erwin Freiburghaus and Rene Hugo Ernst, director of exhibitors cooperative BEA, the exhibition community . The aim was to concentrate in one place, reachable from everywhere, and realize a performance exhibition of leading companies with community needs.
The first congregation took place in Bern on June 10, 1972 . Around 100 exhibitors took part in the exhibition, which lasted eight days at the time. At Suisse Public 2017, 600 exhibitors presented a range of products and services for the needs of municipal and large companies to over 20,000 visitors.
As the variety of exhibitions grew, so did the number of exhibitors and visitors, and new offers were integrated into the fair: for example, the fire service sector, which has been an integral part of Suisse Public since 2001, or Pro Aqua, which has been exhibiting at Suisse Public since 2003. The Swiss interest group of manufacturers and dealers of municipal machines and devices (SIK) has been an important area since the beginning. Suisse Public is sponsored by the Swiss Association of Municipalities and the Swiss Association of Cities.
Suisse Public is aimed primarily at decision-makers from municipalities, cantons and the federal government, but also at large industrial companies that have their own premises to look after.
The implementation in 2017 was honored by visits by Federal Councilor Alain Berset and the Mayor of Bern Alec von Graffenried . The world's largest electric vehicle rally, the WAVE Trophy, also stopped at Suisse Public in 2017 as part of its Grand Tour of Switzerland.
