Patentometry

Under Patentometrie is understood, in analogy to Bibliometrie , the statistical analysis and evaluation of patents . The Patentometrie can be, for example, as a partial sub-field of scientometrics define and bibliometrics, as it is also about special publications relating to science is. Patentometry is carried out with similar analysis methods as bibliometrics, for example text mining . In the literature there are other synonyms for the term patentometry, for example the less frequently used “patent informetry”.

Patentometric indicators

Science Linkage

The patentometric indicator called "Science Linkage" looks at the number of citations in patents that have been placed on scientific literature. The assumption behind the indicator is that a high number of such non-patent citations (i.e. citations that do not refer to other patents) represent a link to science.
