Patience Island is an island in Narragansett Bay in the US state of Rhode Island . It covers an area of almost 0.9 km², which is mostly covered with bushes and partly with trees.
The wedge-shaped island is uninhabited and cannot be reached by ferry, but it is open to the public. From around 1650 until the beginning of the 20th century, most of the island was used as a farm. The eastern neighboring island of Prudence Island is less than 300 m away. The island is administered by the US National Estuarine Research Reserve System .
