Paulette Cooper (born July 26, 1942 ) is a well-known critic of the Church of Scientology and author.

Cooper studied psychology at Harvard .

After the book The Scandal of Scientology was published in 1971, she was subjected to massive personal attacks (under the project name Operation Freakout ) by Scientology.

In 1992 the American Society of Journalists and Authors presented her with the Conscience-in-Media Award .
