View of Paulus Bay from the Acropolis |
The Paul Bay in Lindos on the Greek island of Rhodes is a natural cove south of the Acropolis of Lindos . According to legend, it was used by Paul as a landing point on Rhodes. According to Acts 21.1 EU , however, it is only certain that he drove “to Rhodes”. A small chapel on the south side of the bay reminds of this.
The bay is almost round and is framed by high rocks. It has a beach 100 meters long and an average of 25 meters wide. The entrance is only 30 meters wide.
Rhodes lies on the border between the island-rich Aegean Sea and the island-poor Levantine Sea . Since Paulus Bay is on the east side of the island, it belongs to the Levantic Sea.
