Payn de Beauchamp
Payn de Beauchamp († before 1155) was an Anglo-Norman nobleman.
Payn de Beauchamp came from the Beauchamp family who owned extensive estates in Bedfordshire and other counties of England. He was the second son of Robert de Beauchamp , a younger son of Hugh de Beauchamp . Payn's older brother Miles had temporarily occupied Bedford Castle , which a cousin had inherited from him , during the so-called Anarchy . After Miles died before 1153, Payn inherited his possessions and a claim on Bedford Castle.
Payn de Beauchamp had married Rohese shortly after 1144 . She was a daughter of Aubrey II de Vere and the widow of the mighty Geoffrey de Mandeville, 1st Earl of Essex . Beauchamp remained in close association with the Mandeville family and was eventually allowed to use a version of the family's coat of arms. He supported St Paul's Church in Bedford with donations as well as the priory of Chicksands founded by his wife . He died in 1155 or shortly before. With his wife Rohese he had at least one son, Simon de Beauchamp (around 1145–1206 / 7), who became his heir.
