Pekazett was one of the most important and first German manufacturers of tower cranes with its headquarters in Zweibrücken .

history

The construction machinery manufacturer was founded in Zweibrücken in 1884 by Carl Peschke . As one of the oldest crane manufacturers in Germany, Pekazett was producing the first gantry tower cranes shortly after the turn of the century. One of the inventions of this company was the cardanic suspension of the mixing drum of a concrete mixer . This enabled the mixing drum to be emptied during the mixing process, while the direction of rotation of the drum had to be changed beforehand.

In 1927 the legally protected trademark PEKAZETT was registered. It stood for "Peschke Karl Zweibrücken". Karl Peschke was one of the sons of the founder Carl Peschke.

In 1939 the company's headquarters were evacuated to Kirchheimer Strasse in Stuttgart-Sillenbuch for one year due to the outbreak of war .

In the 1960s, a three-wheel tractor was manufactured, the rear axle of which was hydraulically coupled with a pendulum. Parallel to a slope, the tractor could be moved upright automatically without tipping over. These slope tractors were used for tree felling work in the Palatinate Forest . Just over a dozen of these were made.

At the end of the 1960s, walking excavators (Menzi Muck) and self-erecting, top-slewing tower cranes were also manufactured under license and by order . In the course of the company's history, numerous turbulences had to be dealt with. Despite the innovative construction of bottom-slewing cranes, the international breakthrough was never achieved. Nowadays, the Pekazett cranes are still very common, especially in Germany and Switzerland. Up to 5,000 Pekazett construction cranes should still be in operation.

In 1974 the original company went bankrupt and was continued on a smaller scale by three former employees until it was bought by MAN-Wolffkran . The company kept the brand name PEKAZETT to this day, but no longer produces cranes under this brand. At present, cranes under the Pekazett system with jib lengths of 25 to 45 meters are being further developed and manufactured by KSD Kransysteme in Zweibrücken.
