Pel-Ebstein fever

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pel-Ebstein fever is in lymphomas occurring undulant (undulating) fever . It is typical of Hodgkin's disease but is not very common. As a rule, febrile phases of 3 to 10 days alternate with fever-free intervals of a comparable length. It manifests itself in the context of the B symptoms (a triad of symptoms consisting of fever, night sweats and weight loss of over 10% within 6 months).

It is named after the Dutch doctor Pieter Klaases Pel (1852-1919) and the German internist Wilhelm Ebstein (1836-1912).
