Penfold Golf

Penfold Golf Ltd. is a British sporting goods brand that dates back to 1927. The sporting goods manufacturer produces golf balls and gloves. Various other articles related to golf are also produced. In 1927 Albert Ernest founded Penfold (1884–1941). the mark.

Early recognition of Penfold's skills came when the solid gutta ball became the standard.

AE Penfold began his career with the Silvertown company where he was involved in the development of golf balls. In 1919 he worked for Dunlop and designed the famous “Maxfli” ball. Penfold left Dunlop in 1927 to start his own company, Golf Ball Developments Ltd, based on Bromford Lane, Ward End, Birmingham .

In the early 1930s, Penfold launched its "Latticed", which enjoyed national and international success.

Penfold used a winding technique that could stretch rubber and achieve unmatched accuracy.

AE Penfold disappeared on February 17, 1941 after his ship MV Siamese Prince was sunk off Ireland by the German submarine U-69. The company continued to manufacture on Bromford Lane until the late 1990s. It gained cult status when it was mentioned in Ian Flemings , James Bond novel Goldfinger and its popular film adaptation Goldfinger . Production was relocated to South Korea while the company's headquarters remained in Coventry .
