history

The World Mission Bible College of the Pentecostal Movement was founded as the predecessor of today's PUC in 1954, but closed in 1955. In February 1972 the idea of a higher educational institution of the Pentecostal movement with the Pentecoast Bible Center (PBC) was revived. Five students were admitted to the McKeown Temple in Kumasi and began their education under first chairman David Milles. Also present at the opening were James McKeown , the founder of the Pentecostal Church, and Joseph Egyir Paintsil. The educational institution in Kumasi was closed again in 1974.

As early as 1981, the Pentecostal higher educational institution was reopened under the name Pentecost Bible Center in Madina . In 1983 the institute moved to nearby Accra and Lionel Currie became chairman of the school after David Mills between 1985 and 1992. In 1992 John Waller succeeded him in the chairmanship and was replaced in 1997 by the first African director of the school, Michael M. Kopah, until October 2002. On March 22, 2003, the Pentecoast Bible College was raised to the status of a University College by the President of Ghana John Agyekum Kufuor . Opoku Onyinah became the university's first rector. In November 2004, it was approved as a University College by the National Accreditation Board.
