The People's Action Party ( PAP ) was a political party in Ghana that existed from 1969 to 1972 . Its chairman was Imoru Ayarna .

The party was founded in 1969 during the democratization phase of the fledgling state at the end of the National Liberation Council's military junta . In the parliamentary elections on August 29, 1969 , she was admitted as one of five parties and won two of 140 seats in the National Assembley with 3.4 percent of the vote . There it was an opposition party to Prime Minister Kofi Abrefa Busia's Progress Party, which ruled with an absolute majority .

Ignatius Kutu Acheampong came to power with the military coup against Busia on January 13, 1972. He suspended the constitution and issued a ban on political parties , which the PAP had to bow to when it was dissolved in 1972.
