Perú Posible

Perú Posible is a political party in Peru . It was founded by Alejandro Toledo Manrique (Peruvian President from 2001 to 2006).

The party took part in the parliamentary elections of 1995 for the first time under the original name País Posible. At that time, she succeeded in entering Congress with two MPs.

After that she changed her name. It participated in the 2000 elections. Before the second round, it withdrew on charges of fraud by the Fujimori government and held protest demonstrations.

After the fall of Fujimori, the transitional government called new elections in 2001. The founder and chairman of Perú Posible, Alejandro Toledo, was elected president in the second ballot. In parliament, Perú Posible was the strongest party with 45 out of 120 seats and entered into an alliance with the FIM (11 seats).
