Periodeut

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A periodeut in the Eastern Churches is a higher cleric (priest) who was entrusted with the visitation of the rural communities and was specially ordained for this .

With the decline of the choir bishops , periodists were increasingly used. In some churches both offices exist side by side. There were never any periodists in Armenia or Georgia . Today they are in churches of Syrian origin, in which they have different rights and tasks.
