Peristome

The peristome ( ancient Greek περί perí "around (around)" and στόμα stóma "mouth") is a term that is often used in biology :

  • in zoology it describes the area around the mouth of an animal, see mouth field
  • In botany the term is used in a figurative sense, for example with carnivorous plants, mosses and fungi, see peristome (botany)
