Perkin Prize for Organic Chemistry

The Perkin Prize for Organic Chemistry is an award from the Royal Society of Chemistry for originality and research achievement in organic chemistry . It is named after William Henry Perkin , is endowed with £ 5,000 and is awarded every two years. The award winner is giving a series of lectures in Great Britain. The award is given regardless of nationality.

It is not to be confused with the Perkin Medal .

  • 2009 Steven Ley , University of Cambridge, for his outstanding creative work and innovative solutions in the art of organic synthesis
  • 2011 Stephen G. Davies , University of Oxford, for fundamental contributions to stereocontrol in organometallic chemistry, asymmetric synthesis and total synthesis over fifteen years
  • 2013 Varinder Aggarwal , University of Bristol, for truly fundamental contributions to the field of synthetic organic chemistry
  • 2015 Amos Smith , University of Pennsylvania, for ongoing outstanding contributions to the development of new organic reactions, the total synthesis of complex natural products, and new small molecules in medicinal chemistry
  • 2017 David A. Leigh , University of Manchester, for his contributors to the synthesis and use of catenanes, rotaxanes, and molecular knots as components of molecular machines
  • 2019 Sarah O'Connor , Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology, for the discovery, enzymology and technical implementation of biosynthetic metabolic pathways for complex plant substances
