Personal statement

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The personal statement ( German : "personal statement") is a personally written self-assessment of an applicant at a British or American university . It is part of the UCAS application in the UK and is designed to give applicants an opportunity to present themselves in writing and explain why they would like to study a particular subject. In connection with the grades achieved so far, a reference from the subject teacher and, if applicable, existing tests, the personal statement has a significant influence on the selection process of the universities.
