Peru (or PERU ) is a Dutch band that makes instrumental electronic music .

history

The band was founded in 1979 by Peter Kommers and Ruud van Es. The name PERU can be traced back to the first letters of Pe ter and Ru ud. Rob Papen joined us relatively quickly and could already be heard on the B-side of Macchu Picchu . Jos van den Dungen joined the band in 1988. The first album he played on was Forlian . Kommers, van Es and Papen performed electronic music from 1982 to 1983 under the name Nova . With Aurora , Nova landed a number one hit in the Netherlands in 1982 . After this success, they focused only on Peru. In 1988 Peru also celebrated a great success with Africa .

Songs from the album Continents are used in the TV series Bassie en Adriaan and Hetkret van de schatkaart .
