The Pestalozzi School in Zwickau is a high school with all-day care in Zwickau . The school leaving certificate takes place after the tenth grade. The building is one of the few school buildings in Saxony built in the architecture of the New Building of the 1920s and is a listed building .
history
The planning work for the school, which u. a. equipped with a teaching pool began in 1926. The shell was completed in 1928 and inaugurated on October 7, 1929 by the then Mayor of Zwickau Richard Holz .
From 1942 to the beginning of 1950, the neighboring and later Käthe-Kollwitz-Oberschule was housed on the upper floor of the Pestalozzi school building.
The first student company in the Zwickau district was founded at the Pestalozzi School in Zwickau. The school cafe '' Café Puschkin '' has existed since 1999 and is responsible for the school breaks. Today the school café is run successfully by the Pestalozzi School in Zwickau and the school catering company '' Elli Spirelli ''. Pupils and teachers from the Pestalozzi School participate voluntarily in the company.
After the Pestalozzi School was closed, the Pushkin School moved into the building in 2005/2006; It was not until the beginning of 2010 that the school was renamed “Pestalozzischule” back.
In 2011 the school's renovation work was completed.
Securing the future
In the post-war and GDR times, the city of Zwickau did not have sufficient financial means to sustainably secure the infrastructure and the building fabric of the facility. After the political change, the number of pupils steadily decreased, so that the continued operation of some Zwickau schools was called into question. Because of the special architecture, funds for the renovation of the school were included in the city's financial planning. The general renovation was originally planned in three construction phases from 2005 to 2009. Due to unforeseen difficulties, some renovation work was delayed until 2006. The original goal of completing the renovation on the 80th birthday of the house was not achieved. The work was not fully completed until 2013. The total costs then amount to over 6.3 million euros.
